How to connect Katipolt Desktop to the EROAD fleet management system

This Help Article assumes that the User is familiar with using the EROAD web-based application

⚠️ NOTE: To connect Katipolt to EROAD you need to have an EROAD Gateway API Key.

To Generate your EROAD Gateway API Key

Click on the below link to be taken to the EROAD Help Window and view instructions on how to generate your EROAD Gateway API Key that is needed to connect Katipolt Desktop to your EROAD web-based application

To Connect Katipolt to EROAD

1. From Katipolt go to Company Settings > Connected Apps Top Tab, then Press [+ADD] to display the "New Connected App" Popup

2. From the "New Connected App" Popup, Press the “Type” dropdown and Select the option “Fleet Management” to display EROAD in the “Sub Type” field

3. Then Press [CREATE] to display the New Connected APP Window

4. From the New Connected APP Window, Copy & Paste the EROAD Gateway API Key you generated into the API Key field, then Press [SAVE] to display the Connected App: Fleet Management: EROAD API Window

To Map Staff Members to EROAD Drivers (Driver Mapping)

1. From the Connected App: Fleet Management: EROAD API Window, map “Katipolt Staff Members” to an EROAD “Driver” by selecting the Driver from the Katipolt Staff Member's dropdown options

2. When finished, Press [SAVE]

To List Vehicles

EROAD Vehicles will be displayed in Katipolt on establishing an API Connection

⚠️ NOTE: If you edit Vehicle details or add a vehicle in EROAD, to up-date Katipolt's data, from the Katipolt EROAD API Window's Vehicles Expandable Section, Press the [RE-SYNC FROM EROAD] button.

To Map Staff Members to their Katipolt Mobile App

⚠️ NOTE: Mapping Staff to the Mobile App will only work for Members who have a valid EROAD connection.

⚠️ NOTE: Mapping Staff to the Mobile App will only identify the Staff Member/Mobile App’s “Last Known Location”, I.E. the location where their Katipolt Mobile App was "last opened".

1. From the Connected App: Fleet Management: EROAD API Window, Press on a Katipolt Staff Member to be taken to the Staff Members Profile Window

2. From the Staff Members Profile Window, Scroll down to the “Location Tracking Level” field and Select “Foreground”, then Press [SAVE]

3. When the Katipolt Mobile App is opened, the Mobile App's location will be sent to the Katipolt Desktop and displayed on the Fleet Management Map.

To View the Katipolt Map

⚠️ NOTE: As Katipolt uses the EROAD map, you will need a valid connection to EROAD to see the "Map" Sub-Option in the Side Menu's "More" options.

⚠️ NOTE: For a User to access and launch the Map, they need to be assigned a Role that has “View All Map Resources” toggled “On”.

The Katipolt Map is located on Katipolt's Side Menu’s “More” option, “Map” Sub-Option
